    Homewood's Bridal Suite Notes

The $250 includes 3 hours of time. The bridal suite provides the bride, her bridesmaids, mother, grandmothers, or whomever will be arriving early with the bride to get comfortable before the wedding. You will not be paying the full building rate until the caterer arrives or you need first floor access, whichever comes first. If you need more time, that is of course just fine, we then charge $60 per hour. Just let us know when you want to arrive and we will accommodate.
An example might be that if a wedding was at 6:00, you could arrive at 3:00 to get settled in. When the caterer arrived at 4:30, the building rate would begin and you would have access to the first floor of the building at that time.

The room will have water and glasses waiting for you, but we can also arrange for wine glasses, champagne glasses, coffee, cups and saucers, etc. When you let us know what items you would like us to provide, we'll add that to your estimate and take care of the things you would like.

It would be helpful to know what you need ahead of time, but we will make note to ask you this in our final meeting so that you don't have to worry about a thing on our end.

    Cake Knife and Server

One of the questions on our "Client Checklist" that you will receive from us about one month prior to your reception asks who will provide the cake knife and server. This is something that, if overlooked, may result in our hunting for a suitable cake server substitute during the event. We are investing this year in a nice set that you can rent from us. Of course, you may bring in your own, or your cake baker or caterer can provide one. Our set will rent for $5. You can let us know when we meet the week of your reception if you would like to use it, or if you will be providing your own set.

    Marriage License

I thought it would be helpful to know what to expect when getting a marriage license. I have copied this and refined it a bit so there wasn't so much to read.

If you are going to our county courthouse it is in city county plaza (the deco pink building is our city building, you are going to the county building that is the more traditional building to the left of the city building)
    1. There is no waiting period to be married in North Carolina. Once Register of Deeds Office issues the license it is good for only 60 days.

    2. Persons need not be residents of this state to marry in this state.

    3. The Marriage License fee set by N. C. Law, is currently $50.00.

    4. A Physician's Health Certificate of Blood Test is not required.

    5. The Register of Deeds shall require proof of age from all persons making application for a marriage license. A person between 18 and 21 years of age is required to present a certified birth certificate. Persons 21 or older may present any one of the following forms of ID: Drivers license, military ID, passport, state ID or a certified birth certificate.

    6. A North Carolina Marriage may be performed or solemnized by the following only:
    a. An Ordained Minister
    b. A Minister Authorized by his church
    c. A District Court Magistrate
    d. By any person authorized by any religious denomination.

    7. A Marriage must be witnessed by 2 (two) people who are present at the marriage. The Witnesses must place their names and addresses on the original and the copy of this license in legible handwriting and in ink.

    8. Once the marriage has been performed and both copies of the License returned to the Register of Deeds Office, a Certificate of Marriage may be obtained upon request. Each certified certificate is currently $10.00.

9.When arriving for a marriage license they ask that both parties arrive prior to 4:00 PM, Monday- Friday.
